YACT: WTF is wrong with my car?

Got oil changed yesterday... Went out to start car last night and it wouldn't start... It was pretty cold out, but it started all of last winter...

When I turn the key, there's power there it just won't turn the engine over, so I'm pretty sure its not the battery... I think its the starter, but if anyone has any ideas of what it could be I'd appreciate it...

Car is a 95' Mazda Protege, 59200 miles...

10/19 Edit: Well, it appears God hates me. My timing belt somehow jumped. My mechanic said "there's no valid reason why it happened."

Oger, any ideas? Did I get screwed??

The pimple faced wankers at jiffy lube left your oil drain plug off, and your engine has now seized up.

Just because you have power to your accessories does not mean that the battery has enough power to turn over the starter. When you crank the engine, what type of sound does it make, if any?

Do not assume it is not the battery, starters require lots of amperage, not voltage.

Clean you battery terminals and charge the battery first before doing anything else.

If you try to turn the igintion and you hear rapid clicking whiel trying to start, then it is your battery.

Incorrect sir, it may also be a bad connection (corroded or loose), a bad solenoid or a bad bendix drive.

the car only has 60k on it....the only possible bad connection I could see would be the terminals on the battery bing blocked by corrosion. The other tsuff I really dont see on car with 60k on it.....

Mileage means nothing when it comes to electrical problems, I have had vehicles come into my shop with 20,000 miles with bad battery connections, blown alternators, starters, ignition switches etc.

It just sounds like the regular engine trying to turn over... There's no clicking... I've had a dead battery before and know what it sounds like and it's nothing like this... I'm gonna go try to see if a jump'll fix it...

If a jump fixes it should I go ahead and replace my battery?

So the engine actually cranks but just won't start? If that's the case it's not a battery problem.

Have ya checked your dipstick? If you took it to get an oil change and now it's not turning over.....check to see how much oil you have.

Alright, went and tried to jump it... Still nothing...

Oger, it does turn over, sorry... It just won't start...

it's getting towed... Hopefully its my distributor and nothing bad like fuel pump...

thanks all
