YACT: Windshield Washer Fluid

Night201

I had my windshield washer fluid refilled when I went to a nationwide oil change place. They topped off my WW fluid. I've used it a few times, but now being in NJ with temperatures consistantly in the teens and around 0 at night, it's frozen. I'm not sure what kind of fluid they used and I don't think it should be freezing. I'm going to go out and buy some of my own when I go to lunch.

My question is this: If I top off my WW fluid tank with the new stuff I buy, do you think it will help melt the current fluid that is in there?

drive it long enough and the engine compartment should warm it up...then hold down the sprayer button and try to empty it 🙂.

I wouldn't count on it. I just had the same problem a couple weeks ago. I imagine the main problem is it's already frozen in the lines that go to the sprayers themselves.

You'll be lucky if the pump(s) aren't frozen and broke too.

If they did freeze and won't work when they unthaw, it's usually fairly easy to replace them. On my blazer, I had to pull out the air cleaner and unplug the fluid lines/electrical connector and just plug in the new pump. I bought a new pump for $17.50 at autozone, if I had taken it to a GM dealer I wouldn't have gotten out of there for under $50 I'm sure.

they prolly had it mixed with water just enough to keep it blue.... just take your own advice and top it off with new stuff.
