YACT: windshield cracks

While driving 350 miles this weekend, my windshield was hit by a rock. The rock hit right next to the wipers and has left a round series of cracks. Is there a way to fix this before it spreads, such as melting that spot (not in an area I look out of, so distortion is not a problem)?

LOL!

No. Windshields are coated in something so they don't shatter when they break.. You'll really screw it up if you take a torch to it.

Just take it to your local auto glass repair place. They'll stick a doohickey on it that fills the cracks.

lol, I thought it said YAGT, and when I scanned through it I thought a rock hit your girlfriend by flying through a windshield crack or something 😛

What a coincidence. Rock hit my winshield this morning. Started spreading until it was a 7" long crack.

I called the insurance company, told them what happened...within 4 mins I had an appointment with the local glass repair shop for tomorrow morning to have the windshield replaced. $0 deductible. I dropped the car off earlier this evening, left the keys in the drop box, and it'll be ready tomorrow afternoon 😀

What a coincidence. My delivery truck showed up with a 6" 5-legged cracked windshield today.

If yours has a series of cracks, it may be too damaged to repair.....but definitely let them look at it. No, it can't be melted back together, either 😉
