When I lived in Nor Cal, I used to frequent highway 9 from Saratoga to Santa Cruz. Nowadays, in LA, I'm driving up and down Piuma/Mulholland Hwy/Stunt Road (around Malibu ). Ran with a nice red 360 modena today and a really quick white integra. If you live in LA, you should definitely check it out. Make sure you're not afraid of heights though, there are some steep cliffs and sharp turns.

Ever take 25 down by the Pinnacles? Did that one year on a trip out there (it was on a Car and Driver list of drives)

For me, there's a spot not far from where I used to live that gets twisty and heads thru some hills and there's no traffic at all. Fun to feel the twisties (and, no, I don't speed down it...just don't brake on the curves ;) )

No place to drive for fun around here. Mainly because there are 4 billion stoplights every mile. :(

Hwy 76 from Mt.Palomar to Lake Henshaw. No traffic, no side streets, no houses.
Pala Rd. from east of Temecula to Hwy.76, be careful, homes and Indian reservation.
Angelus Crest Hwy. mid-week only. Angelus Forest Rd. into Palmdale, good way to
go to Willow Springs. The back roads around Idlewild or Julian are good also.
Hwy. 33 out of Ouhi?(sp) by Santa Barbara is very good. Hwy 166 in the same area runs
too fast and can be a radar trap. If you ever drive to Monterey and have time drive
Carmel Valley Road. When the M/Cs race at Laguna Seca CVR is a parade of bikes.

enjoy..:D

In Houston, there's a street called Memorial, one part of which is like an access-controlled mini highway. It's a blast to drive at night -- it winds through a lot of parkland and stuff like that, and eventually goes into a really rich residential area of town, replete with personal forests and huge houses. It's a really nice street. Woodway, in a somewhat similar vein, is nice as well.

Driving out Westheimer can be nice, if you like to street race. It's also fun to make a huge circuit of the city on loop 610 or Beltway 8 -- two concentric freeway circles. The other good thing about the circular freeways is that it's impossible to get completely lost in Houston. They're like fences. :p

You don't drive an automatic transmission 1-ton van for fun. You PARK it for fun, if you know what I mean.

And I've got a few nice spots for that. There's a nice scenic overlook next to the park & ride that the cops can't see up into, in particular. Only drawback is that when deer get hit by cars on I-83 or the ramps or the main road here, they kind of walk up into this area and die. Talk about a good way to ruin the mood.

Oh, and the Turbovan likes to play at Cecil County raceway.

I have one of each. I actually forgot about the turbovan. It's been a mighty long winter, and dad's been driving it. He likes the FWD.

Johnson street, about a mile away. Very twisty, hilly road in the middle of some thick woods. Lots and lots of sharp, high-banked turns.

Perhaps I'll take some pics sometime.
