YACT: when should tires be replaced? etc...

how many miles before rotating your tires?

what about replacing your tires?

assuming it's all been normal driving, no offroading...

edit: 45k miles on them

Normal tire rotation schedule is 6000 miles.

When you should replace them is simple. Take a penny and insert it in the treads with Lincoln's head upside down. If you can see the top of his head, replace your tires.

If you're on the side of the road changing a flat in the middle of a pouring rain.....you might need your tires replaced.

Actually, it's even easier than that 😉

There are treadwear indicators molded into the tire tread. When the tread reaches 2/32", you can see the bars across the grooves of the tread.

I've never let my tires get that low, so that's news to me. 🙂

Yup, 2/32" is the legal (if not prudent) limit 😉
