If you plan to keep this car until it dies, do it. If not, don't.

Resale value sucks on these cars.

So...Mazda is offering 0% leasing for 24 months.

Is there any downsides to leasing if its 0%? Security deposit, yes... but you get that back, no?

Leasing is for suckers.
If you are a high milage driver they will stick it to you in over milage costs.

well, its 0% though...

and i'd be 90% buying it out at the end

and if i wasnt going to buy it out it'd be because the car sucks ass and i'd be delighted to pay the mileage fee to get rid of it

does it make sense then?

I got my 2002 Altima for only $16k... (CDN) it's in wicked shape.... it's a 3.5SE with 5speed manual... (it hauls ass) The VQ35 rox my sox. I love this car, it's uber cheap for how much car you get.

VW is too pricy, too little availibility of the new models, and too questionable reliability.

What are you driving now? Might be worth keeping for a few months while you look for a new car and wait on the job situation. I bought my Focus used, it was a year old with 13K miles and I saved about 6K over a brand new one. It was also on the lot for a few months which helped the price in the end.

That's the problem. I don't have anything now, or I would. And I need a car by Monday, no flexibility.

My tentative list for test driving tommorrow, in the order of most likely:

1) Mazda 3 GT - $25k OTR and 0% lease financing
2) Pontiac Pursuit GT w/ moonroof - $23k OTR and 0% 48 mo financing or 2.39% lease
3) Ford Focus ZX3 SE - $19k OTR with 3.9% financing
