Hey, there's nothing wrong with a 10 year old car. :p

<-----drives a 1994 model year car

But I do think the OP should perhaps consider more options...good luck finding a luxury car for $5k, even if it is 10 years old...:p

I would like a ferrari for no more than 20k but thats probably not going to happen.

Your budget constraint and your wishes do not coincide.

and you might want to consider twice about buying a 10+ year old luxury car as maintenence won't be cheap.

There is more to consider than what it looks like.

Acura Integra (coule be a "cheap coupe" to you)
Lexus SC300/400 (this would be stretch...would be high mileage)
Infiniti hasn't made a coupe besides the G35, which is out of your price range

I guess given your constraints, it would be pretty hard to find a good candidate...

any car in the brands you listed for less than 5k is going to have extremely high mileage. With extremely high mileage comes extremely high maintance, added to by the fact that these are all expensive brands to fix in the first place let alone with high mileage. If you do buy one for 5k, set aside another 2-3k for for repairs and maintance as soon as you get it.

I'll help ya out... first you need a list of all foreign coupes in the 5k range and between 10-15 years old (i could only find older for MB).

Acura Legend Coupe ( <95)
Lexus SC300 / SC400 ( <94)
BMW 325 iS ( <94)
BMW 318 iS ( <94)
early 80s MB 380SEC
mid-late 80s MB SL
Jaguar XJS ( <92) - thanks to Black88GTA
<<i'll add more to the list later>>

The early 90s increased the popularity of luxury coupes (up until about 97 and then the market died until around 2002)
