yea, but you have no warranty.

just test drove a 5 speed Mazda3, very nice car, i think this car pulls out on top.

cobalt is no longer in the list, its a civic, or Mazda 3, but the Mazda comes standard w/ 4 wheel disc, while the Civic has rear drums.

i am just glad that it's 2005, and chevy has finally developed the brilliant cobalt, a quality product with a very good interior. chevy has scored big with this one, and i bet its resale value will be much higher than that of the civic/corolla. they are too boring anyway.

so choose the brand new redesigned 2005 chervolet cobalt, with its agressive styling, and reliable, dependable, cutting-edge engineering, is truly one fine example what detroit has to offer.

i say this is a skoorb post. no one could possibly spout so much bullsh!t in one post and be serious.

father has an 03 avalanche with 76K miles, mint condition, and edmunds says you could get about 24K for it, i believe we paid 32K for it brand new.
I've noticed in the past that edmunds is utterly brain dead for miles. For example I just found an 03 avalanche on edmunds appraisal with 20k miles for $22700 or something. I then hit back button, jacked it up to 80k, and it said it's still worth a bit over $20k. That's fantasy land! On the other hand an 03 avalanche I priced at kbb private party at 23k with 20,000 miles was jacked down to $16,800 when I put miles up to 80k. That's more reasonable...

Anyway, not relevant to the thread, but I noticed that in the past ;)

damnit, parents cut budget back so used cars are the only option, budget is now 13K, the mazda3 was gunna be 18 out the door. (b4 negotiating). so im trying to find a used mazda 3, over the used Civics we have found for 12K, of course its hard to find a 5 speed Mazda 3.

Maybe take a look at the Kia Spectra5? Its a nice little car, safe, and pretty reliable. Can get for around $14k fully loaded; i'd reccomend the manual on this car, would most likely last you longer than the auto transmission. Korean vehicles have been rated one of the highest in initial quality by JD Powers. I know your father is anti-kia it seems, but dont knock the boat without actually taking a real look at it first. Are you really planning on selling the car? Or are you gonig to keep it? If you don't plan on selling the car or trading it within the next 5 years, then resell value shouldn't be the sole consideration of a car.

The new civic si, even though a 2 door hatch, can have some very very good deals on it because they move very slow on the sales floor. Perhaps you could find a used one thats certified by honda; they have longer warranties, but you will usually always pay a 'premium' for a certified used honda.

I myself am looking at a subaru impreza 2.5RS, they are goni for below invoice right now including incentives (about $500 if i recall); ~$17,600. Either this, a used 98 civic ex coupe from my friend for $7500 or the Kia Spectra5...

good luck on your new car
