So i took my truck in for service last night and in turn i get a brand new 06 dodge ram 1500 as a "rental". I get to keep the thing overnight so i park it in my driveway to drive to work today. Well i wake up this morning to find some ^&$%@ punk ^$#@ bitch ass kids have thrown a pumpkin at the thing and left a substantial dent in the door.
So anyone know what happens at this point? I rented it under my insurance and not the rental offices and reading the policy i assume i'm responsible for all costs to get it fixed whcih im guessing wont be cheap. Is this just one i gotta bend over and take like an inmate?

Yeah, more than likely you will have to get it repaired. Now whether you pay it yourself or ask your insurance co. to handle it is up to you (and perhaps your insurers policy). If the repair is substantially more than your deductible... I'd use my insurance. But yeah, it sucks either way.

but just think... if it wasn't the rental truck, it might have been YOUR vehicle. I guess either way, you'd have been paying for a repair? Better to have had the rental get stuck with bodywork history than yours, I say.

Was it a dealer loaner? If so, they probably have their own insurance to cover it.

no an Enterprise loaner

i got a massive dent in the bumper already on my truck, to me a truck isnt a truck without a few dents anyways :p if it was my truck I'd be better with it as I'd have the ability to repair it myslef given a wekend and a buddy with the right tools.
if i myself could pay for it that would be great, my deductable is 500 though and i know a door panel isnt that cheap.

Check with your credit card company. I know that my <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://www124.americanexpress.com/cards/cda/dynamic.jsp?name=CCSG_CarL
ssandDamageInsurance_FAQ&type=intFAQ">AMEX</a> covers damage to rental cars.

EDIT: Fixed link

door dents usually aren't too expensive, depending on what type of insurance you have you should have a clause in there about vandalism. Call your insurance agent and explain they will let you know whats up.

Now i thought about this and not sure whcih takes precidence. I swipped my AMEX card cause they needed a CC on file for the car but it wasnt being paid for on my amex card (payed for by the dealer). So I'm not sure if AMEX will pay this off or not since im not truely paying for it through them?

Just take it to a cheap dent place, like dent wizard. Hopefully if you pull it out there won't be any signs of damage.

If it is just a dent most auto part places will sell you a dent puller pretty cheap or even a toilet plunger and some jelly to make a good seal will pull it out. As long as it is not a creased dent should be easy to pop back out and not be able to detect it was ever done. Its just a suction cup and you pull hard. I have one and had it for years and pulled out many a dents myself when buying used cars to resell.

yeah im not risking it to a dent place...they would have record of it and if it comes back looking repaired i'd hate to even imagine what enterprise would come after me for....

I just called enterprise and they said they will jsut take my deductable ($500) and claim it with my insurance and have me sign a damage report. Called AMEX and said they will cover UP TO only my insurance deductable ($500). So enterprise files the claim, i pay $500, then amex puts that $500 on hold till the claim is paid out thus i dont have to truely pay the $500. Wow this seems like a mess...next to call the insurance company when they open...

^^ what he said

If the metal isn't stretched (and it probably isn't), you may be able to get that dent out with a $10 suction cup and some water or vaseline to seal it on there. Put the vaseline on the dent, put suction cup on it, pull hard, pop goes the dent, nobody's the wiser.

Exactly. Enterprise never would have known.
