YACT: what do you use to make a plastic bumper look good on a car?

I will be washing and waxing a car over the weekend. Its an all red car with some faded plastic bumpers on the front and back. What could I use to make them more shiny and newer looking? Would armor all work? I don't want to get streaks on the bumper. I want it to look good.

Thanks! 🙂

If your bumpers are painted, try some Meguiar's Quick Detail Spray...it smells good too 😀

I dont think theyre painted. It looks like red plastic the whole way through.

All the plastic bumpers I've seen come in some standard beigh-ish color and have to be painted. I'd be suprised if yours aren't painted. Either pay to have a paint shop do it, or if it is a cheaper vehicle you don't want to spend a lot on you could do the paint job yourself.

Once it's faded, there isn't much you can do to bring out the shine again short of repainting it and having a new clear coat put down. But then it will probably be *too* clean looking and stand out from the rest of the vehicle.

A polish and good coat of wax are about the only *simple* things that you can do.

You can get a product call "Forever Black" but doubt you can find it in your local autoparts store. Or you could use a product made by Mothers called "Back to Black" which you can find in any autoparts store. The major difference between the two product is Forever Black last a lot longer than Back to Black.
