a girl i work with has a spectra, i forget the year model, said she has over 100k miles on it and never had a serious problem with it.

i still wouldnt buy one, id take a used toyota or honda over a new kia anyday; and i sure as hell wouldnt pay on the fvcker for 7 years...actually i dont think id pay on any car for that long; its nuts; they depreciate too fast.

kia sucks for the 20-30 men
say goodbye to your love life. if you have one before.

but i wont see why not for the normal urban driver, its like one of those "mom" cars. i have to admit those koreans are pretty good on their 10 year warranty, no american or japanese companies can match that (then again your getting a kia! WTF :D )

The only Kia I would buy is a used Kia Sedona minivan. They are selling loaded for around $16k, so I'd pay like $13k for a used minivan.

Although Hyundai owns Kia, I'd rather buy a brand new 2005 Hyundai Elantra GLS manual for $9,900 out the door. Power everything, with radio/casette/CD, etc.

That's possible? Show me something on Edmunds.

I've posted this here before, but few people know this. The Kia amanti has the finest leather of any sub 50k car. Its butter soft, creamy, and well-textured leather. The support is lacking (unlike say a bmw/mb), but the surface itself is without blemishes, well tanned and very supple. One strange characteristic, however, is it doesn't smell strongly of leather, but rather a chemical dye. Very un-british and ruins quite a bit of the romance of such finely cut hides.

A seven year payment plan is idiotic.

I'd say a 2003-ish Hyundai Accent or Elantra would be a better way to go. Resale is horrid on the Korean cars, but the cars themselves aren't so bad these days. One could easily find a car with 80% or more life left, but at approximately half the cost of new.

I've heard radio ads selling the Kia Sedona brand new for $16k loaded. I was guessing on the used price of $13k.

Hyundai Elantra GLS's routinely sell for $9900 - $10900 (automatic) in loss leader ads. Of course it may also take some bickering, arguing, cursing, swearing, temper tantrums and playing dealers against each other. But that's a part of the process of buying a new car. Fun fun fun!

The Spectra5 is a nice car, handles well (this is what helped the revieers like it), and has first rate safety meausres (side curatain and all that).
