I think your money could be invested better in a different manufacturer. I would buy a pre-owned car from one of the other big name companys before I would buy a Kia. I'll see if I can find some customer reviews for you. I use to know a site where people would write about there experiences with certain makes and models.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!
Don't take 7 years on *any* car, but ESPECILLAY NEVER on a Kia/Hyundai. He will be upside-down on that loan until the day it's paid off.
If he needs a 7 year note on a car, he is looking at cars he cannot afford.

If I'm not mistaken Car and Driver, or perhaps Motor Trend, really liked the 2005 Spectra. Perhaps they're getting better?Originally posted by: sourceninja
I bought a brand new spectra in 2003. It is now currently getting rust inside the doors and on the outside bottom of the doors. The windows also did not seal properly and leaked and it took 4 trips to the dealer to reslove. The heat shield came off and had to be replaced. The motor for the windshield washer spray broke. The cup holder in the middle of the console is weak and breaks if you set your cup down and dont baby it.
its crap. Worst of all with the rust, KIA warenty service told me their 5 year finish warenty doesn't cover enviormental damage. I wash and wax my car each week. In the winter I use my father's garage to wash and wax. I live in Indiana. The dealer (Jordan) told me they were sorry but all of their kia's do that after the first or second winter. I am currently looking to dump the car to a sucker and get a honda or a chevy.
My Girlfriends mom has a 2004 spectra. It is also starting to show signs of rust on the doors, and the plastic trim is loosing paint.
By comparison. I have a Chevy S10 from 2002. I take the same care of it I have taken care of all my vehicals. I get proper maitence done, wash and wax weekly, etc. I have had no problems with my truck. In fact the only non-general maintence the truch has needed was a windshield replacement because of a semi who dropped some rocks.
Also, kia's have no resale value. You may only pay 10-12k for a full pimped out ride, but its not worth 3k the day you drive it off the lot.
*edit* I should note that my kia has 24000 miles on it. My truck has almost 45000.

That's powertrain only. The bumper-to-bumper part is only 3/36k.
