YACT: What brand brake pads to get for my car?

1986 Chrysler LeBaron Sedan
2.5 Ltr, Front power disc brakes.

I've Narrowed it down to 3 brands that I have heard good things about.

Raybestos PG Plus from CarQuest $39.99

Wagner Thermoquiet from O'Reilly $33.99

Performance Friction Carbon Metalic from ? $?

What would you choose for my application?
And where the heck can I order the Performace Friction pads from? all the distributers in my area are 30+ miles away.

Thanks,

CrackRabbit

I would get some Performance Friction Carbon Metalic pads. I have used these on many cars. Very good performance and very quiet.

I would not use the Raybestos as you are paying for the name, not the pads. I have seen these and they are very similar to cheaper store name pads.

Ok, but where can I order some online?

Its a Lebaron. Does it really matter?

Yes it does, its my only form of transportation right now and i plan on having it last as long of a time as possible. And I have used the Albany cheapo pads from Autozone before and they squealed the whole time they were on the car, I wont make that mistake again

Honestly, just get the ones at the autoparts store and be done with it. There's not going to be a huge difference unless you goto performance pads.

The cheapest pads ALWAYS will stop harder and faster. Its because he material is softer. The brakes that last longer are more expensive, but there compounds are MUCH harder and wont stop as hard.

Looks like Performance Friction does not make pads for your car.

The best I could find is Wearever Gold at AdvanceAuto. I have not used them in a while but they used to be really good. They cost $24.88 from what I see online.

If you look online at Performance Frictions website for 1990 Chrysler Lebaron Sedan (virtualy the same car) they have it listed as part number 0521.20 for the Carbon Metalic pads
Also I dont have an advance near me, the closest one is 70 miles away

I always buy my brake pads from the dealer since I get a 20% discount. Those pads from the dealer last longer and make less noise IMO.

Yeah, OEM is usually a safe bet.

Your car uses pad 219 the pads you are listing are the 521, they are not the same.

Here is Advances web-site.
