Just curious. What if you have your souped up hotrod and throw on slicks to go to the track and get pulled over on the way? Granted, thats a dumbass thing to do I guess but just wondering what the penalties are for using non DOT certified tires on the public streets.

It likely voids your auto-insurance. Get in an accident and see if you get sued for everything you own.
I doubt it. If it was a blinker then yea a fix it ticket, but tires are a MAJOR safety item. The cop, esp if it was late-raining-etc..., would tell the person to either get the right tires or it will be towed.
And like others have said, you get in a accident you will be taken for a ride even if it was not your fault.
In Cali, probably a fix-it ticket, if you are not breaking any other laws and have not given the finger

I got fined $500 here. Also a $500 fine if they catch you with your NOS bottle valve open. I think the tire fine is a state ordanance here. The NOS is a local city ordanance here I believe.
Well, I dont mean true drag slicks. But, I was just wondering what it would be because alot of cars that have been modded seem to have a helluva time hookin up off the line on the street. Just curious what someone would be looking at if they put some good drag radials on the back end of that spiffy 03 Cobra with massive mods runnin 600+ HP.
