So my parents decided on buying a new car (actually more my dad). They're looking at their first luxury car (lower end). They asked me which Japanese luxury sedan they should get for around 30-34k and I suggested the Acura TSX, Lexus IS300, and the Infiniti G35 sedan. They crossed out the Acura immediately( they didn't like the look of Acura cars) and are asking which car has better reliability and quality, Lexus or Infiniti?

They want a car thats really reliable and doesn't have many problems. They're old and they don't hear very well so they probably won't know if theres a problem till it stops driving. Like they didn't know the brakes were fading and squeaking very loud until the neighbors told them. This car would be for daily, day-time driving.

Edit: yes i realized I made a mistake in telling them the IS300 instead of the ES330. I forgot about the ES330. So I told them about the ES330, and they'll look into that too.

You should also suggest the TL, if it's around 34K. Can't believe they like the G35 and not the Acura.

ES330 has much better quality than any Infiniti hands down. Real wood, excellent fit and finish. It is the perfect entry-level luxury car. People on here are going to complain it is a rebadged Camry, but the interiors and exterior are totally different.
G35 is not a luxury car as much as it is sporty. ES330 is all about luxury and it offers a hell of a lot for its price.
Lexus quality owns all.

I do not own a Lexus ....

Oh you said IS .. NEVERMIND. They are both sporty and not really luxury .. G35 > IS

If they are older they really should be looking at an ES330. The G35, and the IS especially, are aimed at a younger croud. The ES will have better seats for them, a better ride, and more room.

i'll take the lexus
quality is better than anything else by far
i am not a fan of the styling of any variant of the G35 either so it is not a hard decision to me

looks (debatable)
Acura > Lexus > Infiniti

quality

Lexus > Acura > Infinit

Peformance

Infinit > Acura > Lexus

all things considered if it were up to me i would go with the acura

Yea, shoulda said ES330. Don't get the acura either, the ride is bumpier and won't suit them as well.

ES330 will suit them best. OWhat about a used GS300? Thats a nice car.

I agree. When I was shopping around for cars, I seriously considered the TL. You get a lot for your money, but I did not like the way it looked.

I would pick the IS over the G35 sedan even though the Lexus is getting a tad long in the tooth.

why IS300? I think IS300 is a sport sedan. Get the ES330

I'd stawy away from the TSX and anything FWD, i simply hate fwd and i currently drive it, anyone switching from rwd to fwd would feel the same,

as for the G35, my dad got one and it was a LEMON, broke down 4 times, and infiniti would not take it back until we got an attorney and caused a lot of hassles, however, i had a J30t that went 310,000miles, so when they do go they go a long time... lexus and infiniti are about the same level, for '03 the most reliable car manufacturer was lexus, followed by infiniti

I love my IS300, but the trunk space leaves much to be desired. Also, I haven't had any problems with it.

iS300 is probably more reliable. It's also a girl's car. Sorry to anybody who owns one, but it's a car for girls and metrosexuals. Your parents should buy a g35.

Since it's your parrents and not you I'd say the ES330, if it was you I'd agree with everybody else and say the g35.
