YACT: Typical roll time for a selling a car on Autotrader.com?

Listed my '02 Civic for $13.5k yesterday. It took me a little over a week to sell my 85 Celica; I was very impressed. My fiancee's father listed an '89 Mustang LX 5.0 for a decent price and it sold within 2 or 3 weeks as well. But both of these vehicles were a lot less money than 13 grand.

How long should I expect to wait until my car sells if I have it listed for an average price with low miles.

I listed a beautiful car for sale at a very low price a week ago. I Paid extra for the larger ad. I paged through a copy of the Trader in a store and was amazed at how small the ads have become over the years. The "larger" ad that I paid for was much smaller then a "normal" sized ad from a few years ago. It must be the holidays or whatever but I have not gotten one single call in almost a week - bummer.

It would just depend so much on the car. If somebody had an 03 sentra spec v with 6k miles and they wanted $11k for it they'd have it in there for less than a day because I'd buy it 🙂 Some other people we know were selling a 99 jeep grand cherokee at KBB and never got a call on it.

Skoorb, what do you think of 95ish pathfinders? Waste of MPG?
All SUVs are a waste of MPG unless you just like SUVS! I can say I'd reather drive one than my 93 sentra, but I'd still rather have a 4th gen max as my primary vehicle than a pathfinder.

Yeah, you're prolly right. I can find a really nice 98ish Max for $7500 or so but I'd really like to spend around $5000. I've seen some 200sx SEs and stuff, but it's not a Max. Then I saw some Pathfinder 4x4s and read some reviews on Carsurvey.org, Epinions.com, Edmunds, etc and the pathfinder gets rated pretty high. But I would probably get pissed @ the mpg.

For the past 13 or 14 months (ever since I bought the Honda) I've tracked my gas mileage with every tank of gas. My Honda sticker says 31 mpg city, 38 hwy. And after almost 18k miles, guess what my average MPG for the year is:

*drum roll* 28.8523452 mpg.

The truck that I bought in February had been listed on autotrader.com since september!!!!!

I test drove it, then waited three weeks before i drove it again, then waited a week before I made an offer.

Got it for $1200 below blue book though 🙂

My sentra averages low 30s and the maxima averages around 24 or so 🙂

Good deal =) The gas mileage really varies on the spreadsheet, I hope it doesn't scare people away. I guess a lot of it has to do with weather conditions, the blend of gas, driving behaviors, etc. On 10/23/03 I got 37.8 miles per gallon. Two weeks later I got 24 MPG. Kind of strange.

I'd guess you'll have a hard time selling it at that price. Just a hunch, I think it'd depreciate more in 2yrs. EX Civic w/ avg miles and good condition shows ~$1k less on KBB in my area. No idea if you have some fancy options or what not, but, any mods like rims/stereo/etc are hard to resell so I'd say you'll eat some of that cost. The nice thing is they let you change the price (or at least they did) and run it until it's sold so it doesn't hurt much to start out high and see where it gets you.

Good luck.
