i will be restoring my 78 ford f-150. i will be completely tearing down to frame, and starting it over.

i am working with a *somewhat* limited budget.

so, what should i do?

i have looked into buying a crate 460 motor, but im not sure if i should... i have a 400, it would be illegal to put a 460 in it because it's 4wd... and in 78, 4wd trucks werent allowed to have 460's. so im wondering what i should do at this point. drop the motor every time i need to get it smogged, and get really good at the quickswap? im good at quickswapping carbs, as i do that every smogging. but not the whole engine.

i have the transmission to handle the 460. that's no problem. my ignition system is upgraded too. (rather stupidly upgraded compression from 8:1 to 9.2:1. dumb move, but i needed a new ignition coil to get a hotter spark for the higher compression. so now i have a good coil and system.

i have unlimited time to do this in, and a fairly decent garage. if that dont work, i'll take it to my local highschool, and do some of the work there. hehe, free access to hydraulic lifts is awesome :)

i saw a used 460 motor in the paper for about 400 bucks. should i go with a used motor, or buy a refurb crate motor? (about 1800)

im limited in the amount i can spend on the sound system, would it be worth trying to upgrade the sound system for a truck? what would i upgrade? i have a shell, but i want to take that off. so what can i place, and where would it go?

sorry, asses, i made the same dumbass mistake yesterday as i did today. i began a title, then accidently hit return twice, making it think i had completed a post.... twice. that is why there was another YACT till i asked mods to delete the sucker.

so, wait for text next time, instead of just upping your post count with stupid text making fun of me.

Maybe you and Tyler aka:notfred could do kind of like sister projects on your old trucks, then we here at ATOT could pick a winna.
