YACT: Transmission and transfer case fluid

I do it once a year. They recommend 30,000 miles a year, but the extra $50 a year is not going to kill me. Your tcase should be about 2 quarts of automatic transmission fluid and an automatic transmission filter replacement should need 4-6 quarts of fluid.

My manufacturer claims my transmission and transfer case fluid never had to be changed for life, since it is a sealed system. I do not quite believe that, especially since my transmission blew up at 117k.

haha.

Idiots.

Anyway, you had the oil thread... and you use synthetic oil in your engine..

Why not do the same for your tranny?

Granted, it is quite expensive, but it shouldn't have to be changed for 60 - 90,000 miles..

I'd still want to change the filter every 30-40k though...

Yeah, I am going to probably change it sometime around that interval.
