2000 Continentals are ridciulously cheap around here, and I have been thinking more and more about them. The comfort factor is what is most important to me. 275hp engines doesnt sound bad, either. Anyone have any experience with them?

I'm keeping the trail Jeep, the cherokee is getting boring and a 2000 Continental would be cheaper.

The 1995 to present Lincoln Continentals are very good cars, the reason they are selling well is the because of the earlier models, 1988 to 1994, short comings and costly repairs.

As far as I can remember, they have very few recalls or TSBs. And the over all warranty costs on these cars are some of the lowest in the company.

The prices on them really dropped once they cancelled it for 2003. My only concern is the airbag suspension. A buddy of mine mentioned that they may have some issues.

Ornery loves them, not, I think though, the Continental, but the Town Car. I drove the rear wheel town car. It was OK but boated up in front under acceleration. I got a Cadillac Deville instead. About the same cost, but it's got an electronic stabilized suspension that's very comfortable on turns, and it takes off nice with the front wheel drive. Also, I got 31 mpg on a recent 100 mile freeway run. Drives like a cloud and doesn't look like a Limo. Wonderful car.

Did you test drive one with Driver Select System? It allows you to modify the tightness of the suspension and steering. You may have driven one with it set to soft. Supposedly setting it to firm makes the car handle very well

My only concern would be the air suspension having issues. Considering that it is computer controlled, i'm relying very heavily on technology which i dont trust completely :D

Autotrader has a pearl white 2000 with 30k miles for $14996 from a dealer. :D

OK, the air bag suspension is better on these model because it is seperate from the strut. The cost is lower to repair and maintain, most air bags last better than 150K on these late model cars. Plus the car comes with a 4y/50k factory warranty.

-----------------------
Don't know, if so the sales person didn't point it out. I drove the big one, (the town car?) Ornery suggested the 95 as I recall. Try a Cad before you decide to compare. The one killer is the gas station. My book says I got a 20 gallon tank. Seems more like 18 to me, but it's brutal at 2.15 a gallon to fill. Round town mileage is more like 17. I got mine to go do a 100 mile freeway run with reduced sciatic leg death. The power seat positions turn my seat into an astonaut bucket. I love it. The other day it told me I had a door open. Hehe. Sure enough the back door wasn't fully closed.

Yeah, if you got one your wallet would take a hit, mine would have more cash in it though. 16MPG around town - 19 on the freeway. Lincs get around 25 on the highway.

Translation please! I also got an Escort, actually a Mercury Tracer. Same thing. Station wagon, never a single mechanical problem. 86 horses. Tremendously economical buy. It's like a little tractor.
