I am thinking of buying a new 2004 Honda Pilot. I drove the my cousin's '04 Pilot and it's a very nice ride. For the price range of 32K what are my alternatives? I am also awared of the Honda's recall but I dont' think it affects the newer '04 Pilot.

Its a nice ride.

Mechanically the same as my MDX.

Get the Nav system though. Its really nice. I kind of regret not getting one in mine.

I really like those 2 SUV's... the MDX and the Pilot

expensive, but for an SUV they are nice.

I was not planing to getting the Nav but after your comment I will think about it. I wasn't aware it is mechanically the same as a MDX.

The most direct competitor price and purpose-wise would be the Toyota Highlander. Obviously, there are a plethora of midsize SUVs on the market but your choices are limited if you want a third-row seat and want to stay at your price point.

My boss has a Pilot and loves it (although he is extremely Honda-loyal, and he almost bought a second Pilot but ended up with an Accord). I've ridden in it a few times, seems pretty nice.

I have a 2002 MDX :(

The '02s are mechanically identical to the Pilot. The 03 and 04 have higher output engines along with VSC. I waited 3 months for my MDX and couldn't wait for the 03s to come out so I just went with the older one.

Exactly.

I bought my MDX because I needed the third row. The Pilot wasn't out when I got my MDX. The Highlander I believe just recently got a third row (though I don't know how useful it is). There really wasn't much out there when it comes to third rows besides the Explorer, Durango and GMC Envoy in that range.
