Thanks for the information.

I was a bit worried about how much insurance would cost me on it but I just got off the phone and I'm only looking at about $800/year for full coverage. I thought it would be higher. They also told me I could get 4.5% financing on it for 60 months. Not bad. I'll see what I want to do this Sunday after I drive it.

Wow! Where do you live? I'm seriously jealous of that rate.

San Diego, CA. I'm married and 37 years old with a clean driving record.

Hey ... I just bought a 2004 WRX (Silver)today. There is currently $1500 cash back on the 2004 model. I look at and drove many small sports coupes (including RX-8). I like the AWD, I like the fit (I'm tall). They are cool cars...

Understated exterior, performance, versatility... hey it snows a lot here in Maine, I'll be glad for AWD this winter...

Any difference between the '04 and the '05? The dealership I talked to today has 4 '04s in stock and 5 or 6 '05s.

Except you're in Illinois and I'm in California...:D

Why would I swap trunk lids? Doesn't the spoiler just bolt on?

not sure if the bolt patterns are the same
either way, i'll probably be selling the whole car this summer

Jules, here's an excellent website I think would help you out a lot Text

edit: seriously, it's ran by Joe Spitz, a well-respected salesperson at Carter Subaru in Seattle, and it's just about everything you ever possibly could want to know about buying a Subaru.

A big reason you hear about reliability problems in the WRX and STi is that the buyers are mostly kids who abuse the hell out of them. Of course you're going to have problems when you're doing 6000rpm clutch dumps into all four wheels every day, or running huge amounts of boost with no engine management, or drag racing a car that was never designed for it. The woman who sold me mine said a lot of the kids who test drive them have never even driven a stick before.

Then a year later they're on NASIOC whining in that stupid AOL-speak about how Subaru won't give them a new tranny or engine for free.

I have an 03 WRX wagon and it's been as reliable as any other car I've owned - and the STi has a beefier driveline. A blast to drive and incredibly practical. It's also the best car I've ever driven in snow.

Having said that, if I lived in a place where it didn't snow so much I'd have more seriously considered the Mustang. It's a little (okay, a lot) too boy-racer for me, but there's just no substitute for V8 power on the street.

I didn't notice any real difference, but then again I didn't drive the '05's. Ask the dealer, but any differences are likely cosmetic (guessing)
