YACT: test drove a mazda 6 today

Pros: The car feels very solid, steering and braking is excellent.
Pretty quiet at 90mph on the freeway.

Cons: Drivetrain sucks, period. The 5 speed auto has a manual mode which has a very slow response time (almost a second delay to shift from one gear to the other). I revved it to 6k and shifted it to 2nd and it hit the rev limiter THEN it shifted to 2nd. Engine is noisy and unrefined at high revs, not as much power as i anticipated.
It's hard to see from this car. especially when backing out.

verdict: not going to buy one.

Go test-drive the M/T model and get back to us.

I found the road noise to be rather intrusive in the sedan, but it might have gotten revamped for the new hatch/wagon models.
