Hell, for that matter whats better then Zaino?

What else have you tried?

I personally like Blackfire and S100 better. This weekend, I'll be trying EX-P and AIO. From what I've heard, I'll like them better.

I plan on redoing the finish on my car tomorrow using mothers claybar kit and some Meguiars NXT Tech Wax or Zymol Cleaner Wax. The old wax is pretty much done for since the water doesn't bead up in most areas but there are still some areas that do, how do I go about safely stripping the old wax off? I read somewhere that its okay to use dish soap but I was also reading that dish soap is harsh and can damage the paint.

You are on the right track. Nothing wrong with using Dawn (or any dish soap, the key here is to use a degreasing soap. which is basically any dish soap) every once in a while before you rewax. You aren't going to hurt your car.

From what they say at Autopia, if you do feel the need to Dawn your car (which isn't recommended), don't do it often. They claim it can hurt your paint.

this weekend im planning on washing, claying, cleaning, polishing, and sealing (read waxing, but im not waxing cuz im gonna use Klasse sealant glaze)my car. hopefully the weather wont ruin my plans. but i will post pics of b4 and after

list of items bought
Meguiars Gold class car shampoo
100% wool wash mitt
waffle weave drying towel
The perfect shine clay kit
Porter Cable Random Orbital polisher model Z424
Klasse All in One
Klasse Sealant Glaze
1Z wheel cleaner
1Z tire foam

Sounds like you've got a good handle on things, but not too many people recommend applying Klasse with a Porter Cable. I'd buy some swirl mark remover (assuming you have swirls) and use the PC for that.

Klasse is what I usually recommend to people who want the most benefit for the least amount of work. It's a two step process, with a polymer "wax" that will last 3-6 months. A carnuba wax will last at most 3 months under ideal conditions.

i put on the new TurtleWax Ultimate car wax on my Camry on Sat. All i can say is wow. The finish was a fricken mirror i was really impressed. the only drawback was buffing out the swirl marks, those took a bit of elbow grease.

yea i understand that AIO isnt a polish. i guess AIO can be classified as a mild polish. i was looking for 3M Finesse It II to polish my car with, but cant find that anywhere.

oh i got 3 foam pads with my PC Z424... from here...the orange cutting pad, the white polishing pad, and the grey finishing pad. if i do find a good polish thats not too abrasive, i will use the orange pad to buff that in. will use white pad with AIO and grey pad with Sealant Glaze

I always thought Klass was a two-step process, starting with AIO and then their sealent glaze after that. Is there supposed to be third step (with a polymer or carnuba wax)? If so, which one's a good one?

well some people like putting on carnuba wax on top of their SG coat...but i think thats going overboard. BUT, if you are going to do that, wait 24 hrs after you apply 1st coat of SG b4 applying carnuba wax....you have to let the SG cure to the paint

SMR= swirl mark remover

When I stilled cared (I realized the futility of detailinga daily driver), this was my "hardcore" process that I did like once a month

Sorry some of these numbers might be wrong....

Meguiar's #62 Car Wash Shampoo
ClayMagic Clay
Meguiar's #9 SMR 2.0
Meguiar's #9 SMR 2.0
Meguiar's #9 SMR 2.0
Meguiar's #5 (i think) Show Car Glaze
Meguiar's #5 (i think) Show Car Glaze
Meguiar's #5 (i think) Show Car Glaze
Meuigar's Medaillion Premium Paint Protect

And a few other things here and there....whole process took ~8 hours, done with a porter cable....

Also, pictures LIE. I know sometimes when there were still blemishes on my hood, pictures showed the hood as flawless. Pictures mean nothing.

I put zymol on my car last august and it still looks great.

Ive tried even the Zymol that Turtle wax boxes up for them. It works pretty good too even though its not the real stuff.

Edit: BTW.... I have also tried NXT from Meguires. It didnt' last but two weeks. 🙁

But it was better looking and even smoother than the carnuba wax i tried which was Mothers.

I use klasse aio, followed by 2-3 coats of SG every 6 months. For my weekly / bimonthly washes I use meguiars gold class shampoo and a coat of S100. The S100 gives a nicer, deeper shine than just the AIO & SG give. It also makes bug removal easier throughout the season.

The reason zaino tells you to use dawn is because it is one of the better grease cutting soaps out there and you can't apply a polymer wax over a carnuba wax. So if there is any residiual wax when you apply their product, it won't turn out as nice.

To the fellow who's NXT lasted only a couple of weeks, I suspect this is what happened with your car. Polymer waxes should last a lot longer than carnuba.

Also, if you plan on using a polymer wax, you should not use a quick detailer with carnuba in it for your lubricant while you're claying. just mix up some soapwater in a squirt bottle and use that instead.

They're not very good because It was getting dark and I needed to clean the windows and rims/tires.

Looks great, good job🙂

In the first pic is that a whitish spot on the bumper?

The process I use right now is

1) wash with car shampoo (meguiars gold class right now). sometimes use dawn if I want to start "fresh."
2) clay with clay magic using soapy mixture, not detail spray). note that claying the car will or should remove most wax; this is what i've always been told.
3) 3M SMR, or meguiars swirl remover 2.0, depending on the paint condition and my time
4) 3M IHG (imperial hand glaze)
5) wax, right now I use Meguiars yellow #26 paste, I plan to try S100 (same as P21S), or blitx one grand. I also have some gold class, and nanowax.

I want to try klasse AIO and the SG, plus a coat of carnuba, seems like a much easier thing to do once you get the surface properly prepped by claying and swirl removal.

I beieve that using dawn too much can be bad because it usually does strip all protection from the paint and this condition of no wax/polish is what is bad for your paint.

I really do need to get a porter cable 7424, would make everything much easier.

Meguires is crap, glad to see you tools fell for their crap: http://www.nsxsc.com/nsexcitement/waxtest.html

My results in my own testing with meguiars has been nothing short of good. Sure, I can take that test you linked to litterally, but I'll go by what I have experienced myself first hand. I will agree that there are better waxes than meguiars gold class. I have excellent results with meguiars yellow #26 wax, which is part of their professional line of products. I have heard nothing but good things from blitz one grand and S100/P21S, but I will have to try these out for myself and see.
