YACT: Stock tires

I'm in the market for a new car and I find myself wishing that I could buy the car and then just supply my own tires. Of course, I could immediately put new tires on, but then I've wasted a few hundred dollars worth of rubber in the stock tires. Is there any reasonable option here or is it just one of those things that people put up with?

The stock tires on my '05 altima 2.5sl are craptastic in the rain. I noticed this the first time I drove in the rain and I've been wanting to change them. But I decided to wait until they wear down. The tread on the front low, rear is fine, but I think I'll just get a new set of tires because I'm not comfortable driving in wet conditions.

EDIT: quakefiend's idea FTW.

edit2: I have close to 19k miles on my car. In 10 months.

sell the stockers and at least get a few bucks back out of them

What's the best venue for that?

Craigslist or local papers/publications that allow free listings of items for sale under a certain dollar amount.

Take it to the track, burn the stock tires off learning the limits of your car. Then, upgrade the tires.

Thanks for the suggestions. As for taking to the track, never mind the rubber, I don't have cash like that to burn right now.
