My mom left the country for 3 weeks and she let me borrow her car. She comes back on sunday and my idiot self scraped the front bumper on the curb trying to park it. Im a horrible parker =(

Im just wondering about how much would it take to fix that on a 2004 MB S430...

i probably wont be able to put it in the shop on time so i guess i might just have to explain it to her =(

Tell her about it and then tell her you'll pay to fix it.. and do follow through with paying to fix it or else you will look like an ass.

Would she even notice a little scrape like that? She'll probably think she did it without realising.

I'd also suggest telling her the truth ... she's going to find out anyway & you'll look a lot better if she hears it directly from you first.

Get some wetsand sand paper. Sand it smooth (using water). Then get some spray paint and lightly mist over it until it covers it.

Way down there she may never notice it. Or it would be a long time. Or at least if you do tell her right away it wont look nearly as bad and she wont freak out. Then you can tell her you'll have it paid to be painted later.

I scraped my moms BMW rental cars mirror on the garage. Put white streaks down it. Luckily it just buffed out after some time. No one ever knew :D

I really try not to stereotype, but honestly.

  1. You are Asian
  1. Your mom has a Mercedes
  1. You damaged the car while parking

That being said, you are looking at a remanufactured bumper cover with paint (as well as blending) for probably about $700

If that bumper cover can be repaired without reman then it will be a bit less, but paint is where they get ya. And please do not take it to some cheap shop like Maaco, they do poor work, hence the price.

WTF? There's virtually no damage to the bumped and you're suggesting a remanufactured bumper?

Well, I used to work at a salvage yard and I can tell you that it is quite surprising the minute amount of damage it takes for a cover to be junk.

Granted, those are mostly surface scuffs, but the rubbed down part is pretty bad. Perhaps it is my training, but yeah, if I was pulling that off a car, I would call into the salesman and let them know the cover was bad.

What you dont know about many of us Vietnamese, is that we like to show off with fancy cars and clothes when we go out, but live in crappy houses and neighborhoods.

And $700 would put me back about half a year with no income. Dont have a job anymore, long story.

i read this as

so i scrapped my moms car.

then i red the text and thought "wtf, his mum leaves him with her car for 3 weeks, he scuffs the bumper, and to fix it he scrapped it? eh?"

but i see now

WTF are the curbs like mountains where you live? we dont have curbs high enough to scuff the bottom of a car bumper unless your a ricer.

and i wouldnt think its a 700 job

i bought a car that had a huge scrapes down the passanger side. lower part of the door and the rear quater panel just before the wheel arch

took it to a spray painters called "ray the spray"

£150 later i got it back, he'd managed to blend it into the factory paint (it didnt quite have the mirror reflection normal paint does, you when you can see a good defined reflection of someting in the paint? this gives a slightly more blurry, less defined relfection, but the colour and gloss were spot on) and you can only tell if you really get down on your knees a look hard.

i reckon any decent spray shop would be able to paint that out, fill the gouges and match/blend the paint, and because its low down on the car no one will ever tell the difference without knowing about it or really giving it a good inspection

Well, that is why I don't like to stereotype, as I cannot relate to it being such a mutt myself (German/Irish/French/Cherokee)

Obviously, as you have already realized, you will need to admit this to your parents. Again, not to stereotype, but I am sorry. Maybe your mom will see this as a modest mistake, and be nice about it. Then again, maybe she will treat it as if you just knocked up some whore with herpes and want to marry said whore, I don't know.

I wish you luck, but seriously, that is part of the Mercedes "thing", you pay more for parts and quality repairs, C230 be damned...

just take it to a few body shops and get quotes. Its pretty easy and painless to do. I had to do the same with my bumper when I got rear-ended at a stop light. If they have to replace the bumper your kind of screwed and it could be $700+, but if its just a paint job you could get off with as little as $150-$200.

Zach Morris, that you?

I feel like this is an episode of Saved by the Bell or some '80s teen flick starring Corey Haim.

I love how white people call themselves "mutts" because they're a few Caucasian races with a little bit of "Cherokee".
