YACT: So I go to buy a truck today...

not a truck

😀

It's not mine. But it's a fun little car to drive for a few days till my truck gets delivered. Dealer has to ship my truck in from another state. While I wait they are letting me scoot around in a 350Z.

Should be getting in my '05 Fronteir LE Crew Cab sometime the middle of next week.

Initial impressions of the 350Z: My ass is too wide for the seats. The bolstering kills my thighs. Blind spots on it are aweful. It beats the living hell out of me on rough streets. Looking through the rear view mirror is like looking through a key hole. Shifter is sloppy as crap and clunky. But good god this things pulls like no tomorrow in any gear. They wrung that 3.5L V6 for everything it's worth. The snarl it makes when let off the gas is awesome.

I couldn't imagine owning one these as a daily driver. It's just a very exhausting car to drive. It's fun to blast around the country roads with it. But for every day living it would be miserable. Just getting in and out of the thing in tight parking spots almost requires you to be a contortion artist. Between the incredibly low seating position and the gigantic doors that weigh 500 pounds a piece, it takes a lot of effort to get in and out.

why didn't you go with the titan?

Titan is nearly 2 feet longer than the Fronteir and would leave about 1" of clearance to fit in my garage. Plus I live in the city and don't want to put up with having to park a full size truck in tight spots or drive it on the highway. A midsize is much more to my liking.

I thought you said truck...

It's much better than the hunks of sh!t Detroit puts out in the midsize class. I don't need a V8 and the cumbersome size of a full size truck.

Is that the truck with the four spoke wheels? you geeting any mods or add ons?

Yeh, it has the 4 spoke wheels. No real mods in mind for it. I had it optioned with the very high recommened Rockford Fosgate system - 380 watts, 10 speakers including 2 subs, and a 6 disk changer with MP3 support.

I'm not really into the aftermarket scene.

Uh oh, here come the "truck" zealots again. Face it, retards, not everyone needs a truck for offroading or pulling a fifth wheel.

A Frontier with the steering wheel on the right hand side.

Hey genius boy, I was siding with vi, not vice versa.

I'd take a look at Tacoma for a light truck...they look the nicest to me 4x4 model. Course I'd get a ranger anyway cause I only buy Fords.

I went into my shopping *wanting* to like the Tacoma the most. But after *many* back to back test drives the Frontier was the truck for me. More comfortable. Better optioned. Much better road manners. And a lot more for my $$ than the Tacoma's.

The other vehicle in my garage is a Toyota product, so I obviously have no bias against Toyota. The Frontier just fit my needs better.

I was surprised at how pricey those tacomas were, for about the same price you could buy a full sized tundra.

Same for the Titans. 🙁 You could get a full size king cab Titan w/ the V8 for about the same price as a lower end Frontier.

I really looked at the Crew Cab Titans, but just didn't want anything that big. And I paid a premium for the convenience of a smaller vehicle. All the Manf's are like that.

Toyota
Dodge
GM
Ford

Doesn't matter. The midsize command a premium. Probably because dumb yuppies like me will pay for them. D'oh!
