YACT: So how is the 2004 Honda Accord EX-6?

Turkish

Lifer
My friend is planning on getting a new car and he is thinking about the 2004 Honda Accord EX-6 (240hp) with navigation, leather, and all sorts of good stuff for $28,000 (6-speed and auto are the same price) ... he likes the looks of it and we all know Hondas are incredibly problem-free... I am looking through google right now but I wanted to see what ATOT thought about it? Please post your opinion 🙂 Thank you!

Also check out the 2005 Altima. The new interior and the few exterior tweaks make it a very nice car. However the inside of the 2004 Accord has more colorful lights .... and the inside of the Altima has more chrome.
My girlfriend was about to buy the 4cyl coupe, interior material was top-notch.

I've got a 4-cylinder 2004 Accord LX 5-speed manual and I absolutely love it. The poster above who stated that it won't get you any 'poon' is right 😛, but I couldn't have asked for a better car. Typical Honda quality inside and out, and the engine (while a bit boggy at lower revs, typical for a Honda engine), is almost TOO smooth on the highway - it's literally silent. Aerodynamics, etc. are great too...I've been getting between 26 and 30 mpg in 90% city driving. The price was right too...about $18,500 for everything, destination AND first month's payment were taken care of by the dealer.

I would have really liked to get an Accord LX V-6, but they don't offer any V-6 sedan with a manual transmission, which completely discounted that option for me.

The EX V6 coupe has a 6-speed manual.

Oops, you're right - I was just thinking of sedans, as I was dead-set on a 4-door. But yeah, you can get a manual with the coupe.

In fact, they do. Read the OP's post.

Not in sedan form.

Sedan v6 manual has been discontinued. Sale wasnt as good, they were testing the market... I know a few people that has it on the v6performance.net forum

Personally, I'd go for a TSX over an Accord. But then I don't require the grunt of a V6 and prefer the better warranty and slightly more upscale interior of the Acura.

i didn't want to be the first to say it...tsx w/gps interior is top notch </salesman voice> 😀

<-- tsx owner 😉

powerful engine that gives good straight line acceleration but mushy ride that doesnt seem to track very precisely. Interior materials have a look of higher quality than that of the Altima and according to edmunds and cars.com you should be able to get it at a lower price too.

Yup, there's a recall on the auto transmissions. My 2004 LX V6 Coupe is included in the recall. I regret getting the V6 with auto now, but maybe I'll end up with a tranny swap 🙂 Or not.

I'm thinking of getting the EX-V6 Coupe with Nav and 6-speed... supposedly can be had for about $25K around here (L.A.)...

Does anyone know what the "expected" changes for 2005 are going to be? I would check out the forums on honda/acura stuff, but I'm too lazy 🙂

Thanks for any info/links!
