YACT: smoke coming from my rear right wheel?

smoke was coming from what appeared to be my rear right brake pad. i'm not entirely sure the exact piece, but it was definitely coming from the wheel (not the tire). there was also a burning odor.

i'm almost pretty sure that i was not driving w/ the parking brake on, but i'm still curious as to whether or not this could be the problem. thanks.

i have a new car w/ less than 2200 mi on it.

What were you doing when you noticed the smoke and smell? What gear was the car in? Make, model, year, and mileage?

You should probably just take it to a mechanic.

Unless you're 100% positive, check your parking brake again.

uhh well buddy, if you have a time machine that i can borrow, then i can go back and find out whether or not i was driving w/ the parking brake on.

ohtwell:
i had stopped to put gas in the car, smelled the burn, and saw the smoke. maybe 30min later (while i was doing something completely different) i thought that perhaps i had been driving w/ the parking brake on.i have an '04 mazda6. like i said, it has less than 2200 mil

i don't know if it's on the same side as the tank itself, but it's on the same side as where i pump gas into the car. it would make sense for the tank to be nearest this side, but i have no idea how cars are built.

At first glance I thought the thread title read...

"YACT: smoke coming from my rear right now"

Much more entertaining title if you ask me.

I would expect parking brake as well, else you better take it to the dealer.
