I drive a 1990 Chevy Lumina, great condition for a 13 year old car.

But i was in an accident back when, i fixed the car up myself but the right blinker doesn't work really. listen here.

when my headlights are off are off, the right blinker works but when i flick it on it stays on. so i gotta do a ghetto turn signal and flick it on and off.
but when my headlights are on, the right blinker stays on but it doesn't blink. So i really can't signal to people im turning... :(

i can turn the hazaards on and all the lights will blink, so something must be hooked up right.

Is there anything i can do to fix this problem? can i take out a fuse or reset something in the electrical system?

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

First off, pull all the bulbs, if the bulbs are marked 2057, then you have a two filament bulb, check these to make sure they are not internally broken, these filaments can break and short causing this type of problem.
If the bulbs are not the problem, carefully inspect the bulb sockets for damage, G.M. uses snap together plastic sockets, these are easily broken.
Last but not least, carefully inspect the wiring in the fender, if you find any pinched wires, there lies the problem.

well the problem was in my accident my entire front right side was smashed in, so i did the wiring myself to connect the wires and the right blinker (it was an incredibly sh¡tty job). i used one of those crimp things that you stick the stripped wires into a blue little tube and crimp it together.

since the blinker works without headlights and the hazaards work, you don't think it's a problem outside of the wiring?

Probably the bulbs like Roger suggested... my POS car does that too when any of my bulbs are either loose or burnt out... :(

Impossible for me to tell over a BBS Yobar, but a good eduacated guess would be that the crimps have failed, the harness is pinched or crimped creating a short or one/both bulb sockets are damaged.

the rear bulb works fine, it wasn't damaged.

i guess i gotta take another look at it, but i dont think the blub is damaged cause it turns on at least(?) but i dont think i can do it up at school cause i have no tools.
ill try to throw up some pics.

Whenever I have a weird problem like this it always seems to be a bad ground. The electicity feeds from the signal part of the bulb through the light part giving me what seems to be a good circuit with the lights off. With the lights on that path isn't available and it doesn't work right. I always recheck any wireing that I have done and then start checking grounds. Usually one or the other fixes it.
