YACT: Should sammyboy buy a 94 Saab 900 SE, or shouldnt he, that is the question.

Hey guys.
It's time to buy a car...YAY!

Anyhow, i've got 3500 to spend now, i'll have around 4500 in not too long, and I dont mind spending all/nearly all of it.
I just turned 18. I won't need this car for long commutes, I'm not going to school next year, and don't know if I'll ever be going to school.

I want a nice car, not a 14 year old civic that you feel like your straining just to get to 60.

It has to be a stick.

don't need immense power, but a mid sized car with ~170 horses would definately be cool with sammyboy 🙂

Anyhow, do you think that a saab is an OK choice? I doubt insurance would be too expensive, repairs could be a bitch but if I shop around for one that looks to be well taken care of and has under 100k or so on it I think i shouldn't be too screwed. I see 94 SE's going for around 4 grand and I've just started looking.

Anyhow, everyone yell at me and tell me what a fool I'm being, but give me a better option afterwards!!!

Other cars i've been considering are: ~92ish accords, maybe an old cheap subaru just cuz they're big and run forever but I dont get 14mpg like i'd get on a truck. Uhhh....looked at a whole bunch of other things but haven't started seriously considering buying a car til this week so I haven't done too much research.

Anyhow, heres what i want your guys opinions on,
Saab, yay or nay? why?
94, nay or yay, why?
SE? Common, is there any other choice?

Hehe, thanks guys, and sorry for the horribly formatted post

OUTIES!

If you could get an Accord Coupe V6 that would be awesome, but I'm not sure how old you'd have to go for your price range. It would be pretty reliable though, and cheaper to fix than the Saab.

If anyone could compare how a 94 Saab would drive compared to a 2k2 (besides just general oldness), since i believe that was before the GM intervention, I'd be appreciative. I'm gonna go test drive some this weekend hopefully, maybe just the 2.3NA not the turbo, but anyhow I've driven my buddy's 2k2 SE a bunch and i love the thing. Shifting is nice, like the clutch more than my other buddy's bimmer, and the steering is nice and tight, and it can haul hockey bags.

Anyhow, if anyone has some experience with both 10 year old and new saabs and could share some wisdom i'd appreciate it 🙂

If i was gonna get an accord i'd probably just get the 4 cylinder, and i'd probably go back old enough to get it for cheap. bastardly honda's and their holding of value, makes me sick.

oh my god guys, im so sorry. I cant log into my acct, I log in to post and it just doesnt log me in after and theres nothing I can do. And it just 5x posted by itself. This is madness, make it stop.

I know a guy with a '94 Saab. Don't remember which model. Looks kinda like a DeLorean. Pearl yellow. Turbo has burnt out twice, climate control is wacked, AC burnt out 6 weeks after being replaced, and it's a total ass to repair. But it's an _AWESOME_ car.

I just got an 88 9000S. I love the car sofar. Dunno how the repairs are gonna be yet...I need to get an oil leak fixed, hopefully it wont be too much! I really love the car. I think youd like the 94 900 alot.
