I remember seeing these in Barcelona all over the damn place...anyhow:

VW's Seat brand eyes U.S. launch after 2007-report

Volkswagen's Spanish unit Seat is considering launching the brand in the United States after 2007, German trade newspaper Automobilwoche reported on Saturday.

"North America is the next sensible step strategically," Seat head Andreas Schleef told the paper, which will be published on Monday.

A launch would not be possible before 2008 though, because none of the current Seat models conform to U.S. standards, he said. Next-generation Seats could be built in the group's Pueblo plant in Mexico and sold through Audi dealerships.

"The perspective is plausible," Schleef said.

Seat aims to take advantage of the rising number of Latinos living in the United States and their increasing purchasing power.

Schleef said though that Seat would have to find a way to pay for it itself, since "our shareholder (VW) will not finance it."

No final decision has been made yet, he added.

Here's a link to their page in the UK - Text. For the uninformed, they basically make sporty hatches and the next Leon just got unveiled in Barcelona (Text, Text).

This probably doesn't matter to 99% of you but I'm a fan of the sport hatch segment so...suck it! :p

I think I may buy a car in England that way I get good gas mileage. That or a Prius.

haha he said unit!

I was over in Spain at the end of March and I saw a bunch of Seat's. I didn't know what they were though until I saw the pics in this post. They seem to be very popular over there. I didn't know they were a division of VW either. Do they make them in Spain? Or are they German made?

SEAT's are very intriguing looking vehicles. I saw a lot of them in France and I think they'd sell well here for being so different than our styles.

Yeah right. VW's sales are plummeting. I would be surprised if they can hold VW and Audi in the US market for the next 5 years, let alone add more brands.
