YACT: Sealed tailpipe?

I was behind a Ford Focus earlier today that had it's tailpipe completely sealed. It looked like a chrome cap over the end. Obviously the car was still functioning as it was driving in front of me. So, how does this work? What kind of mods have been done?

it has to have a spot to exhaust somewhere, maybe it just had a cap diflecting the exhaust "forward" cuz you should see what happens when you cram a potato up someones exhaust pipe ... 😀

It was probably just directing the exhaust downwards, because obviously it was going somewhere.

nothing happens..😛 it was on mythbusters. It just shoots it out.

That was on a v8 car, maybe it wouldnt happen like that on a 4cyl.

Exactly, nothing happens.

The engine probably wouldn't even start. Unless you've got a leaky exhaust system.

Sounds like he had a silencer in the tip. Problebly put it in for city driving cause otherwise it would be to loud.

That could be it. Never heard of one of those before but the pictures look like a match to what I saw today.
