Why would the Acura have better resale than the Scion?

acura's considered a luxury brand.

while both have 160hp, the scion's using a camry 2.4L whereas the rsx's is an i-vtec 2.0L. the rsx beats the tc by 0.5-1sec in the 0-60 and it looks better doing it ;)

also remember the tc is a first year model, which deters me personally.

WTF?!?! please provide information where a similar spec'ed car would beat eachother by .5 - 1 sec. every single benchmark (mind the geek in me) has them pretty comparable with the Tc actually pulling ahead due to the greater torque. only problem is Tc is easier to induce a spin...

my bad, i guess i confused the type-s specs with the base rsx specs. you're right, the 0-60 times are pretty close: mid 7's. my gs-r still beats them both with flat 7's tho :)

still, the tc is about 200 lbs heavier than a base rsx (2800 vs. 3000) even if the tc does have more torque. picking one is really a matter of preference and you probably wouldn't go wrong with either. (psst, acura's warranty gives you an extra year and 14k miles plus 24 hr roadside assistance ;) )

true but i believe they wanted a good split between luxury and speed on the Tc. They wanted people to see it and think a sporty looking camry for cheap..and the people who know whats under the hood to be intrigued. personally id shave a couple tenths off and get the Tc for comfort..im obviously not expecting a 10sec car out of it..otherwise i wouldnt get the Tc or rsx type anything.

and yes...personal choice comes into play

warranty is nice..like my mom always suggested i get a hyundai for the warranty..my response was i want a car that doesnt NEED the warranty ;)

WoW this thread took off for a while but then died. I probably shouldn't even bother to bump it but here we go. I test drove the Tc and I must say I rather enjoyed it. It was quite peppy and handling seemed good. Now remember, this is coming from someone who's been driving a full-size truck. On the flip side I don't really like being so low. I enjoy being able to see two-three cars in front of me braking and I just can't do that in the Tc. :/ I also found the color I want but I doesn't have all the options I want and it being a limited edition they won't add any. -_- For the curious it's this one minus the rear pedestal spoiler which I want. That's not that big of a deal but I also want leather. -_- I also test drove a Nissan Frontier today and probably enjoyed it more than the Tc, but then again being a truck the gas mileage goes down the drain. ***Dawns Uber flame suit*** On the flip side I mentioned a 350z to my father. When asked how much, I said "20..........8" to which he replied, "Thats not bad, I thought they were 40." Oh how doth the little boy dream...

Btw-I'm 22.

I've seen some private sellers sell some used 350z's for ~$20k. Of course it's probably the lowest model with no options at all.

why would a cadillac have a better resale value than a geo? you're comparing a luxury (more or less) nameplate to a bargin-basement (more or less) nameplate.

not saying one is actually better than the other, but really, you shouldn't even have to think about this.

As I stated in the first post I can't drive a stick or I'd be whipping around in our STi. Re-sell value doesn't mean anything as whatever I get will be driven until the engine stops running and the tires fall off.

Why does every car thread turn into a huge argument between people who don't even own the product and have driven it mabey once on a dealership test drive?

RSX has better exterior design, IMO BUT the insurance rates on RSX are Brutal. I'm 26 and i used to try and get a quote from Liberty mutual for an '05 RSX-S and they quoted me roughly $1000/yr full coverage. i don't know if the fact that it's not type-s you're looking for is going to drop the price by much but it is already expensive as it is. So i'm going with rx-8 and i'm getting like $685/yr full coverage. The TC quoted by Liberty was $600 something/yr.

Regardless of which you choose you will also need to factor in the cost of some japanese letter stickers for your windows and also a large chrome screw on tip for your exhaust.

I just bought a tC and I absolutely LOVE it! It handles nicely and really isn't that much of a change from my '93 3000 GT. Plus, you get TONS of features for the price and you can add even more!

Drove both tC rides better, RSX drives better. They're both not that fast but the tC is "peppy" because of the added torque. The TypeS... still feels a tad slow and still feels totally gutless up long inclines.

If you wanted something in that price range with balls, you'd get a Sentra SE-R if buying new, there was a thread by someone else looking in the same price range. Heck, you can even buy a base Mini. I'd much rather have that than an RSX. For used, WRX... AWD... Turbo... new? Then RS 2.5

congrats on the g35

but why would your dad think the scion tc is unreliable? it's essentially a toyota car.

.....by the almighty grace of the heavenly father I have managed to talk my parents in to getting me an Infiniti G35 coupe. :Q :D Most likely an '06 though if they jack price a ton then it will be an '05. My dad didn't the view the Scion as reliable so he said why not spend a little more and get quality. Mom was stuck on 4-doors until we tagged-teamed her out of the decision process.[/quote]

You tag teamed your mom with your dad :Q
I think I am going to be sick lol

Lame to get a sporty car with an automatic tranny. Will probably lower the resale value as well...

a "little" more?

that is more than 2x the original cars you were looking at

nice ride though how much of that do you have to pay yourself

edit: you are getting an automatic?
