If there are no problems with your car, as far as you can tell, is it worth taking to a scheduled maintenance?

(Let's say @ 60,000 miles)

yes, the key part there is "as far as you can tell"

you should always take your car in to be checked out

man i hate the scheduled maintenance. they always tell me i need an 'engine flush' or an 'oil change' or some other garbage, for which i'm always sure i'm being taken in.

Um, why not fork out $40 and buy the manual for your car? Read up on what you think might be the problem? If you take it to the dealer (stealer) then you might get shafted. Some routine maintenance is required but there's nothing that sayz you can't do that yourself. With few exceptions, you can do it all yourself. Find a user/netgroup that owns your model and year and the will overload you with DIY info.

Otherwise, join the rest of the sheep that flock to the stealer to have their cars taken care of.

For what the average dealer charges for a 30K mile check, you can buy a good socket set & some other tools, do your own maintenance.

<--just changed oil on wife's TDI Golf:D You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find filters & 5w40 synthetic oil specifically for diesels:(
