YACT: Rough idle while in "drive"

My 91 suburban idles rough when i put it in any of the drive gears, it revs slightly, then lets go, repeat forever, this is only when i'm in a drive gear and stopped at a light . Neutral/Park does not have this ailment, haven't tried reverse yet.....it's always done this to my knowlage, but i just bought it back in june or so. No tach so this is all by ear, and most of the time i have music going so i've never heard it before
 
I would do like already mentioned, replace the plugs, wires, cap and rotor if you havent yet.

Will it do it only when cooler or when its fully hot? If it does it when its cool my dad had the same prob it was some emissions piece.

hopefully you realize posting something this is not going to actually solve your problem. its almost impossible to diagnose something like this without being there to see it. i am a gearhead at times and sure ive got about 100 things i could tell you to do, but it wont help because im not there and you obviously arent a car buff, no offense intended whatsoever. what you need to do is either replace the cheap stuff and try to boost performance (like the PCV valve, plugs, wires, air filter, etc.) or just get someone to look at it.

if you like to try stuff yourself, give it a shot and start messing around with it (within reason i mean). it never hurts to do-it-yourself and try to solve the problem, but dont be upset if you cant fix it.
 
Park/Drive idle is typically half the RPMs of neutral idle. If it is tuned to idle too low, you'll see more effect in drive.
