YACT: Resetting EPC Light in a Volkswagen

My girlfriend has a volkswagen (a 2001 new beetle to be specific) and it is nothing but trouble. Her parents gave it to her (even tho she didnt really want it) and fixing it has become her problem. Anyway, yesterday her EPC light came on which apparently is related to emmissions. She said the car is running fine so I am thinking it may be a fluke thing. Trouble is, the dealer will still want an arm and a leg to reset the light.

So my question is, is there a way to reset the light without dealer equipment. In my car, a series of pedal pushes and stuff will reset the DTC light. I was wondering if there is anything similar?
