I am looking at an older Jeep Wrangler 1989 with 115K miles

Was someone's hobby to restore it and looks like most things on it are under 8000 miles old inc. engine, transmission, brakes, tires, paintjob.

Looks really nice, but is obviously more $$ than a regular 89 Wrangler would be.

Is there anything I should be aware of about buying older 'restored' vehicles?

BTW - He is selling as he bought an old pick up to restore as his next project

what reason are you buying it for? Offroading or daily driver? What engine, 2.5 or 4.0?

it's a 2.5L 5 speed

It would basically be a daily driver......maybe a little offroading

I am very cautious with used 4x4s. If they do have driveline problems, they can be extremely costly to repair.

I am not a fan of the 4 cylinder in them. They are underpowered and get pretty crappy milage for a 4 cyl. The 4.0L is twice the engine (190-200HP) and tough as nails. Milage is marginally worse than the 4 cyl, but easily worth the premium.

Personally, I'd find an excellent condition YJ/TJ/Wrangler with a 6cyl.

eh... the 2.5L is a pretty gutless engine. I would not pay more than $1700-$2000 for it.
