YACT: Re-occuring Tire leak

My front right tire keeps on going flat. The leak isn't a slow and gradual one, as one day it'll be fine and the next it'll be completely flat. I can refill it with air and it'll run perfectly fine for 2-4 days, then it'll deflate totally again overnight. This has happened 3-4 times already. I've gotten new tires and the problem still persists. I know it isn't due to foul play because it has happened in two entirely different locations. Does anyone have a clue on what's going on? Thanks.

either a bad valve stem or you have a nail in your tire...

edit: Saw you said you had new tires installed: Could be a bad rim...take the wheel off, lay it down and pour water around the bead where the rim and tire meet....if you see bubbles....there's your leak. Alternatively, you can smear liquid soap around and do the same thing, but it's messy

nail in tire for me. it depended on where the nail was in relation to the ground. at 5 and 7 o'clock the tire flexed enough around the nail causing a the mysterious leak.

Just the one tire?

more than 1 = rims absolutely no question at all. Steel wheels hold air best... Mag wheels do not hold air that well, it's a porous metal. Although in this case it sounds like a Manuf. defect..

If it's not a bad rim, it's just a bad valve stem.. new tires = not a puncture problem unless you are really unlucky 😛

I've gotten new tires. Same mess.

Yes, it's the only one and the same one everytime.

A valve stem would have a fairly constant rate of leak. This leak is fairly random. I vote nail/screw in the tire. Probably leaks faster when you're parked with the nail/screw head on the ground.

I just checked my receipt for the new tires. It looks like they included new rubber valve stems as well. I guess the problem is definitely the wheel/rim?

No true, perhaps the needle is moving back and forth with bumps, sometimes deflating, sometimes holding air.

Just because it says it doesn't make it so 😉

Take it to a different tire shop and they'll tell ya.
