YACT: Question for Subaru Owners/Car Enthusiasts

I'm still running on the RE92's, which as all subaru owners know, pretty much suck. I have a regular wrx 04 sedan, so I'm trying to figure out a nice set of all-season tires. I was looking at the Falken Ziex 512's, or the Pirelli M+S. I'm also thinking of upgrading the wheel size from 16" to 17". What are the Pro's/Con's on doing something like this?

Heh, RE-92's definitely suck. If you need an all-season I'll recommend Kumho Ecsta ASX's. They're great and have excellent wet traction (got plenty of experience with all the rain in LA this past winter).

As for upgrading to 17's...there's really nothing to be afraid of here. Just make sure the wheels fit and have fun!

EDIT: Take that ugly @ss dealer badge off your car. God how can people stand those things:|

I don't know what's available, but check out Continentals. I've always had good luck w/them.
You'll swap a little ride for a little handling when you go from 16" to 17", if you keep the overall diameter the same.

Go with BF Goodrich Traction A/V from tirerack. I got them and love it. They have a very good rating as well on Tirerack

I have had good luck with the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season on my car... first set went 50,000 miles, and I recently replaced them.

Check out Discount Tire Direct

They have listings by vehicle, with tires for stock, Plus One, Plus Two, and Plus Three (19" rims in the case of the Subaru).

The 17" version of the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is $130, in 235/40ZR-17. The 18" version in 225/40ZR-18 is $206. Wear rating is 400, Temp is coded A, Traction is coded A.

The 19" version in 225/35ZR-19 is $323 each (OUCH!), and the ratings drop to 220AA. Would wear much faster, and much more expensive.

I did a little research and I was leaning towards the Pirelli PZero M+S. What do you guys think of this tire? I'm still debating on whether or not to spend an addition 600-700 bucks on some new 17" wheels.
