Definitely check with your local DMV on this. Many states don't care who the registered owner is, if the tabs/tags/registration is late, YOU will have to pay any late fees owed to change title into your name and register the car...

I sure doubt it. Interest in "how things work" and "what if we tried it this way" comes at any age. From the way some older gear and hobbies are mentioned, I'd guess there are more than a few members in thier 70's.
