YACT: Powerlock switch won't lock driver's door

It's a '94 Integra that recently had a new alarm put in, since the old one failed..but recently the driver's door lock doesn't lock when either the remote for the alarm is pushed to activate the powerlock, or when the powerlock switch within the door is pushed.

When you do either, the lock will move a little bit, but won't go all the way. The only way to actually lock the door is to physically push it when inside the car, or using the key on the outside to do so.

What currently happens when you hit the powerlock switch is that it basically acts like the door is open, because if anyone's familiar with these types of cars..what happens if you try to hit the switch when the door is open, the lock will move a little bit, but won't go all the way as to lock it..this is to prevent you from locking yourself out. So now what's happening is that it's doing this even when the door is closed.

Is there a simple fix to this problem, or what can I do?

The alarm may not be sending a long enough "pulse" to lock the doors. There may be a setting in the alarm somewhere to change that.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way.

It sounds like it's doing the "Don't lock your dumb ass out" thing, since it's an aftermarket alarm system linking into the internal power locks. Try holding the handle open while physically hitting the switch and see if it locks.

Maybe there's just bugs in the system.

Either that or it could be the lock motor is shot.

So it still worked after you got the new alarm installed?

Yeah holding the door handle open locks it. It seems like it's just not recognizing that the door is closed for some reason..

I'm fairly certain that was the case, new alarm was put in about a month ago..and I'm pretty sure I tested it out when I first got it..and it was only when I had it "valeted" and the parker was locking the door and tested to see if it was locked that he told me it wasn't locking.

Assuming it worked before the alarm was installed, sounds like something fritzed. Check the alarm brain or as the installer.

Is it cold where you are? IF lock actuators on on their way out, they usally start acting weird when the temperture drops. Mine stopped working for the last three weeks or so, but it warmed up to 37 today, and they started working again.

Unfortunately I had it installed when I was at home in Nor Cal..I'm currently in LA and won't be back for a few months.
