YACT POLE: Have you ever gotten raped by the dealer

Buying new OR maintenance

based on this thread

I've never got taken, though they they always try... went for a recall on lower control arms with my audi, of course the recalled ones were ok, but all the other control arms needed replacement. $1600... ya right

The worst one I've seen was one of my former emplyers. Their old POS work van blew the rear brake lines, so they took it in. It ended up being $1500 for new rotors, calipers, pads and brake lines, plus beeld the system. Anyway I checked the old parts they got back and sure enough the brake pads have 1/2 inch of brake material left and the rotors dont even have a groove cut in...

No, but I only bought one of my many cars from a dealer. I'm sure I'll get ripped off at least once in my lifetime.

Yes, one time. Wife (gf at the time) got the interest rate swap. She took the car home assuming one rate, and they called her back and jacked up the rate.

I made the mistake of taking my car and the wifes car to firestone. Never again. Just one example of their bs was they did my brake, rotors, whatnot on the front end and they put the brake lines on backwards causing them to rub when I turned the wheel substantially. Found out later when I took it to a real repair shop but by then I needed new lines.
Then there was the dealership telling me I needed a new reluctor ring for the ABS which was a $700 repair. Took it the real repair shop and he got me a refurbished unit for $190 installed.
