I am looking for a new car, relatively compact or "sub-compact".

The three cars I am looking at are Toyota Corolla, Ford Focus, and Chevy Cobalt.

what do you guys think of these three?

<obligatory>

Domestics suck, get the Toyota

Best advice is to test drive each car and see which one fits you best. Detail the pros and cons you feel after driving them and couple that with research that you do (such as safety ratings, gas mileage, reliability). Then make a decision.

They are all three boring ass lame cars so I'd go with the cheapest. Resale wouldn't matter to me. All of them have good reliability.

They also have the pickup of a rickshaw.

I'm not looking for speed or anything, just mostly reliability. How many miles would be a good range to look at 112kish?

Seriously, test drive each, and go with what you like best

the corolla has the best reliability, but considering you're getting them brand new, that shouldn't be a major issue for a few more years.
I'd personally get the focus because I think they look better, and far too many people have the corolla.

oh I'm not buying them new..

but I've heard a bunch of junk about the focus.. transmission, brakes and stuff.

but that was a good idea ^^ test drive each see which I like best.

but yeah they're going to be used, so reliability is an issue. I'm going to college in the fall and it's about an hour away, I'll be driving home every other weekend or so.

I chose the cobalt for myself due to the price. So far it is an excellent car.
The rear trunk lid is a bit small and may be a disadvantage for your hauling stuff to school.

My gf has a 2005 focus. 55k and the transmission has already had to be replaced (fortunately under warranty). Why don't you look at the Honda Civic? Personally I think the Civic is better than any of the cars you mentioned.
