My sister is looking for a car and I pretty much narrowed it down to a 99-00 Infiniti G20. They can be had for around $12000 with around 40Kmiles.
Reliability is excellent according to CR and my sister doesn't want something too big. They also come fully loaded and depending on how you bargain might be able to get the 100,000 miles Infiniti warranty. Any input is appreciated. The other choice was a 99 Passat 1.8T Howevever, is more expensive, more miles, likely to be less reliable, and not a loaded as the Infiniti. Still a nice car nevertheless.

Its slow, but a very good handler. The ride might be to harsh for your sister. Make sure she test drives one and sees if she likes it.

It's a glorified Sentra with the SR20DE engine, from the original SE-R.

However, it's pulling more weight in the G20 from all the gadgets and sound deadening extras, so it will seem more sluggish than on a 2500 lb Sentra.

Overall, it's a nice, very reliable car.

I can't comment on the price off the top of my head.
New ones used to go for low $20k's, under $25k fully loaded.

Hate to be a nitpicker, but it actually sits on the Nissan Primera chassis. :)

Yup what he said.

If you can get a 99 for $12K that would be a very nice deal. Would this be with the "t" package? If you can get a t, it would be fully loaded w/ leather, moonroof, spoiler, foglights, and LSD. With a SR20DE in there, just perform all the scheduled maintenance and it should be bulletproof. Make sure you get the receipts from the previous owners to see if they serviced it on schedule and check its carfax report too. Sure the car could use a little more power, but I don't think your sister will be racing anybody and it has enough pickup for highway onramps and highway passing, you just have to rev it a bit. ;) Its 140hp is more than enough for daily driving and you get great mileage (30+ mpg highway).

Everything I've read about the G20 has mostly been positive. Even thought of one for myself. If the price is right and she likes the ride go for it.

The G20 IS NOT A glorified Sentra. Both have different suspension and chassis. The a form of the G20 used to race in the BTCC in England.

In the US market, its a slow car (mainly cause it is heavy), but its a very nice driver.

yeah they do. The FWD SR20DET from a JDM Nissan bolts in I believe. Plus they have turbo kits and what not for the G20.

Most of the swaps are into P10's (1991-1996 G20s) and they use a JDM Sunny or Bluebird SR20DET.

The only P11 G20 (1999-2002) swap I know of was a guy named Luke out in California, he sold it though.

There's also a guy in the UK with a P11 turbo Primera. His site is here: http://www.primeragtp11.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Home_Pagex.html
