less then 7 seconds! Friggin unbelievable. I've had the car over 6 months, and have always known it has really good pickup, but never realized how it compared to other cars until today. Being bored, I decided to test her on the expressway ramp. My first test came out at a rough estimate of six and a half seconds. This couldn't be right ... so I tested it again. Similar results. Now, realizing that my test methods weren't perfect, I had my buddy jump in his brand new 2003 Subaru Impreza for a test-run. His car comes stock rated at 160HP, and since buying it he's added a low cost performance boost (~+10hp). After pulling out his stopwatch, he looked over and "GO!" .... I wasn't ready at all, talk about a bad jump. It took me at least half a second to hit the gas! :( Well he gunned it, to keep stride with me, and clocked me at, get this, 7.1 seconds. Amazingly I easily hung with him the entire time, pulling in front by a good margin before hitting 80 (but perhaps he let up a little after hitting 60mph *smile*). Is this even possible? I don't know much about cars, or performance upgrades ... but the exhaust system is definately not stock, it's an aftermarket system of some sort. Perhaps the car came with some performance boosts that I somehow don't know about? My car is rated at only 140 stock horsepower.

(note: I do not have any +5 HP stickers :p)

Even though our methods aren't perfect, the scores aren't off by much. We tested the car several more times with very similar results. The speed and performance I'm getting out of this car is unreal. Here's a website with some Integra power ratings ( and :camera:'s! :) ) Plz dont lynch me if I've made a dumb comment. Like I said, I don't know much about cars/upgrades/power-ratings and all that jazz.

You came to a complete stop on the freeway onramp? Is the freeway onramp level, uphill, or downhill? Most of them are downhill.

Yes, came to a complete stop, nobody was around. You just had to rain on my parade didn't you :p The one we used for testing is downhill, but slopes much less then most ramps (and was very long ... the ramp is at the end of the expressway). I guess the ramp explains my insane Type-R ratings. But even so, I know that my car is WAY faster then stock, given that I can match (beat?) my buddys new Subaru. :p

i dont believe it.. this isnt an ls vtec is it? just regular one? i dunno..

spedometers are inaccurate for the most part anyway.. depending on which car it can be 3mph or more.. dont quote me on that but im pretty sure that's how it is

and im sure a wrx can get to 60 in less than 6 seconds.. you'd break something (aka wrx's glass tranny reputation) but still :)

nah, there is no way your car could do that, and also the regular imprezas are about similar in performance. hes got 20 more horsepower but more weight as well. if you want to see his car compared to his then why not just cruise match at low speeds and then romp it :)

Yeah, the non-turbo imprezas really aren't all THAT fast. If he has the RS-which it seems that he does based on the 160hb bit-then he's basically using the old 2.5rs' engine. Before the change in design, I believe a 2.5rs would do 0-60 in the low or mid 7's...but man, did it look nice doing it :)

Plz take your rice-O-vision goggles off before you post... an LS-VTEC is basically a Teg LS block with a B18 GSR/ITR head. Even a real ITR can barely do 7seconds in 0-60.

So unless you've done extensive custom engine work, you are 2Rice2Ridiculous.

BTW, I pitted my stock (at the time) WWD DSM against my friend's slightly modded (I/E) LS... total annhilation.

LS is not VTEC engine, only GS or GSR comes with VTEC engine. However, the LS engine is bigger thus it has a lot more torque compare to the VTEC engine. Racer/ricer always build hybrid engine with GSR top and LS bottom end which resulted with high revving engine and powerful torque. Of course, the engine size is still 1.8L so torque is negligible when compare to detroit muscle.

Anyway, under 7 seconds is impossible, 8 or 9 is more like it. GSR model could do 7 secs with good driver and some good diet and performance upgrade.

My advice is, save some money and go to the dragstrip .. post the result after few runs or when your satisfy. No slip == no talking.

It's possible, but very unlikely that your Integra does 0-60 in less than 7 seconds. Your speedometer can be screwed up. How do you know you are really going 60 when the speedo is showing 60? Did your friend pace you at 60 and both your speeds match?

Second, tire size can produce false readings. Smaller tires = higher speedometer reading than actual.

so i take it you bought this car used??
There's no telling what's in it. Hell it could have a Type-R engine in it. they put them in the base model civics, why not an older teg??

The Impressa isn`t all that fast. Its got a 2.5L 165hp engine.

Edit: My 96 civic lx 4 door does 0-60 in 9 seconds.

I got myself a 10 second Mazda!

Actually, its about 11, and thats 0-60 :)
