I think they put the screen in the car in 1992. You know that computer screen....

Give me a second, I'll find a pic.

Interesting. They look somewhat familiar, but I've never seen or at least noticed the name badge "Toronodo".

Oh, well, okay, it's "Toronado", but that still doesen't help me... lol

It's for a factory installed GPS system that GM rolled out before OnStar. It cost millions to set up by the customer didn't want to pay for the service. The system also would display vehicle status, trip mileage, date & time, and service intervals.

Never saw a screen in one. A fella at work had one(1970)and as I recall, being an early FWD,
it would eat the front tires off the wheels. Yes the ft.end was properly aligned.

The Buick Reatta and other GM cars used this for a little while.

It was mostly a all in one type thing. It controlled the AC, Radio, etc.....
The bad thing is it was made before its time so it had a lot of problems. GM has always been a step ahead of most, but they have also most of the time been a step a head of tech needed to make it 100%.

Funny I stumble on this thread, I'm going to look at one of these cars tommorrow for possible purchase.

I came across one in the past, and basically it controls everything that buttons control in normal cars. In addition to that it does stuff like automatic climate control, exterior and interior temperature gauges (celsius or fahrenheit), door ajar warnings, oil change tracking, diagnostics, compass, miles per gallon (I think), range that you have on your current gas level, and thats all I can think of right now. All radio controls are in this device as well.

Its really very cool. And it is touch screen as well.

Just hope to god it doesn't break. In addition, I'd imagine it'd be a little quirky if you installed an aftermarket CD player. I don't know what it'd do if you tried to change radio stations and such.
