We have a 1992 Oldsmobile achieva with 130 Miles on the clock. We can't get the thing started at all now and this started when it was getting COLD outside. Sometimes it took 2 cranks of the keys to get it started. Acouple days later it has only got worse and worse till you have to turn the key to the crank position about 11 times or else you'll get a funny cranking sound from the engine. Acouple days after that it wouldn't start @ all w/o being jumped by another car.
Now the car doesn't start at all with a jump. We just took the battery to Autozone and they said it was fine than charged it to the max. I just came back home and installed the battery and still the car doesn't start. If we turn the key to the crank position all i get is a HUMMM sound like coming from the speakers. Theres no noise at all coming from the engine. The car is basically dead if you ask me.
Now why did the car use to start when we jumped it? That usually means the battery was the problem. Correct?
Could this battery still be a problem? Or is there something else gone bad?
THANKS
