YACT: Nissan Sentra SE-R SPECV - Dyno with Turbo?

my friend has been looking at that for a couple of months now... turbo or supercharger... too bad an SRT-4 is stock... 😀

It's only being boosted at around 8 PSI (@ 250 WHP already), so I don't think it will *blow* up..

Yes, the only nice thing about the SPEC is that it's also around 3-5K cheaper than the '04 SRT-4 (that iron block 2.4 is definitely built for strength though) which will easily pay for that TB..

thats pretty good #'s considering the SRT4's run @ 13psi to get similar power #'s. Also the EVO 8's and STI run insane PSI's #'s 16's i believe to attain their 280+ hp #s.

why do you say that? you can't say anything about reliability until it's been boosted over a year. at least with my car, when you slap on an aftermarket turbo on it, unless you spend alot of freaking money building up that engine, it will blow

the test car has been running on the turbo for over 3 months now.. Moreover, TRAV (of FIR) has tore apart the QR25 and from the looks of the internals, it's capable of running 220-260 WHP.. 8 PSI is not crazy boost.. He knows his stuff, he built a bunch of SR20DET's already..

He's actually building a 400 WHP one, it's already been sleeved by AEBS + new PISTONS (JWT prototypes for the QR25)..

The tranny iis quite capable - the same as the one on the maxima (final drive is different on the maxima) and considering it's capable of handling the VQ35, shouldn't be a problem.

wicked... i was told those motors don't have that much potential as they are not extremely strong when tweaked..... but apparently it can take it... that's pretty damn sweet 🙂

MOPAR already has a Stage 1 kit developed for the SRT4 for $300 or so.

And a transmission and powertrain designed for 250hp. It's gonna cost a lot more than a turbo kit to build a Sentra right.

Heh, considering the SE-R has a six speed pulled straight from a maxima, I'd say it too has a tranny/powertrain built for 250+ hp since that's how much a maxima has.

The SE-R is kind of a ran in these days in the sport compact car world, but you gotta give credit where it's due. It's rather cheap considering you get 175HP/180TQ and a maxima transmission for (~16k). The stock looking SE-Rs at the track I go to consistently run mid 15s, just a bit slower than the much more expensive WRXs actually.

Back in the day, some of the sentras nissan was building had engine internals good for 400 HP. I dunno if that's true anymore.

That would be the SR20DE, nobody knows how much the new QR25's can ultimately hold, but for now, it's capable of around 220-260WHP without internal mods.. (that would be around 12.1->12.3's).

That's alot of power IMHO, for a 2.7K pound car (traction problems anyone?) - doesn't have any problems turning tires to jello from 1st->3rd gear..
