I'm not looking to break the bank. this is the first time that i'll be buying new tires for my car.

off the top of my head:
sears auto, goodyear, firestone, pepboys. wal-mart, costco/bj's/sam's club, merchant/ntb/tire kingdom, just-tire...

anything else that i'm missing?

tips & advice welcome, please!
also, do these places price match??

hey, that was really fast... i googled "tires" and got really cheap prices for the ones that i'm looking at... all-season stuff
Text

have you, or anyone else, dealt w/this company before?
'cuz it doesn't appear to have "free installation" like other places (wal-mart & goodyear)

since free install, does NOT include a lot of things that add up to over $150~

Costco has good prices, but they don't sell bottom of the barrel tires. As with pretty much everything, Costco sells quality merchandise for a good price.

Definitely research your tires at tirerack.com before you buy anything.

Discount Tires. It's not an official policy, but you could haggle the price down if you bring in proof that it is cheaper at other places. And their customer service is top notch.

Tire rack has contracts with local tire shops to handle the installation. In fact, they will even ship the tires to one of your local installers, instead of your house, to save you the problem of tranporting them there if you choose.
IME, Sears is usually pretty high priced compared to the other major tire retailers, and would be among my LAST choices. America's Tire, Discount Tire(same company, different name) Costco would be my first choices for national stores. (Living in the west, I can (and often do) use Les Schwab stores for my tire needs. Can't beat their service...)

I find that Walmart, Sams, and Costco have the cheapest tires installed. Free rotation and balance for the life of the tire too.

More reasons to use Costco: A. They hand torque the lugs with a torque wrench. (The way it is supposed to be done you stupid monkey with the impact wrench) B. They fill the tires with nitrogen.

You'll be glad for A when you have a flat tire.

Ok, I will print out tirerack.com's prices and hope that they can price match them.
otherwise, i'll have to buy them online and shipped to the warehouse~

Thanks everyone!

Most places charge around $20 to mount and balance tires, so keep that in mind when you order tires through web.

<---- Been there done that, twice! Saved about $150 per set, shipping, and installation included. You can also browse their site and see what others, worldwide have to say about the tires your interested in.
