YACT: Never a good sign

Back in January I bought a 2001 Dodge Durango with 38k miles on it. Just over four months later and the damn transmission is basically shot.

*Details*

Driving to work on Wednesday and coming up to speed since I was accelerating from a 3 way stop. All of a sudden the RPMs increase but I get no power to the wheels. Work is only 50 yards away so I park the car and go in the plant. Leave work and I can't get the car over 25 mph without the same problem. Get the car home and check the fluids. Transmission fluid is a little low, but nothing to worry about. Put a little fluid in it just for safe measure and take it out for a test. Same problem. Decide to put it in low gear and drop it off at the dealer that night. Get a call the next day to find that they towed my car 30 miles to a tranny shop because 3rd gear is shot.

Hell no. I won't pay a dime for this. Pisses me off though that I am now on my 3rd day without a car. Even worse is the fact that I've only had it 4 months and already have issues. I've had the Stealth for 7 years and the only issue I've run into was a dead starter.

That definitely sucks. 🙁

That said, Dodge Durango is still my favorite SUV...

I love the car, but it couldn't have come at a worse time. Was supposed to go to Chicago this weekend to pick up a bunch of furniture and appliances for my place, but now I have no way of doing so.

The trans in my Ram is acting up also.Going to have to drop the money to get it fixed next week 🙁
Will be driving the wifes Eclipse which is so small I feel like im in a gocart 🙂

Exactly how I feel going from the Durango to the Stealth.

Don't they give you a loaner?

Yeah I could have gotten one, but just decided to brush it off since I already have a second car. Plus with work as hectic as it has been I wouldn't have had time to pick up a loaner. Of course come Tuesday I may change my mind. 😛

It's a Dodge transmission. Dodge trucks = crap transmissions. Sorry you had to find out the hard way.

mine has held up fine...6 years old now. same with 2 of my friends, except theirs are a lot older, too.

You're a lucky one. Dodge's truck trannies have a very high failure rate.

I've always had people say that Dodge transmissions are crap... but we've never had a Dodge transmission fail, and my family has owned a Dakota, a Durango, and 2 RAMs....
